Family celebration

A chapter closed for the Class of 2017 when, dressed in caps and gowns with diplomas in hand, they walked out the doors of the Trinity gymnasium last Friday. The atmosphere was jubilant! A mixture of pride, excitement, and perhaps a touch of sadness, filled the air.

Although Commencement Exercises at Trinity maintain tradition and formality, the event leans towards the intimacy of a family gathering. The addresses by Student Body President Bo Giuliani, Salutatorian Tessa Kenney, and Valedictorian Lydia Wagner were peppered with inside jokes and personal references to classmates. Even Commencement speaker Pastor Junius Lewis directed his comments to the graduates with an air of familiarity. As a frequent chapel speaker, Pastor Lewis was requested by the class. He, too, is part of the family.

We’re going to miss “our” kids that comprise the Class of 2017. They have accomplished much. Collectively, they were awarded over $710,000 in accepted scholarships and performed over 4,750 volunteer hours during their high school years. They will always be a part of our hearts and our prayers. Enjoy the last photos in our family “album” of these graduates as we close this chapter along with them.
