Come to Me

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 ESV
Yesterday, our students participated in See You At the Pole, a global student prayer movement that’s been around since 1990. This year’s theme was “Come to Me,” based on Matthew 11:28. That’s exactly what our students and staff did: They came to Him through the Word, led by pastor and senior Bible teacher James Sabin. Then they came to Him through smaller prayer groups led by the seniors. Throughout the day, our elementary classes also gathered around the flagpole to pray. Often, the teachers took time to explain that, while we can pray in our classrooms, many students don’t have that option.
“Come to me.” Three simple words, but so powerful. What a privilege: that we can come to Him with our sorrows and joys, burdens and praises! And we have the freedom to join in prayer at school, lifting each other’s needs before a caring, listening God.
