Cause for Celebration

It’s been a week of celebrating the accomplishments of our students! From five high school students presenting their winning app at NASA’s Johnson Space Center to the Night of the Arts to Jenna Barnett signing to run at Glenville State, our students wowed us with their talents and poise.

In case you missed the story about Team Spaghetti Code, Carmelo Kniska, Lucas Kniska, Marcos Kniska, Ethan Tomlinson, and Ben Lohmann, under the guidance of advisor Marcus Fisher, competed in NASAs 2024 App Development Challenge. The team had 10 weeks to code a visualization of the South Pole region of the Moon using lunar terrain data and display essential information for navigation and communication for the competition. Team Spaghetti Code was one of five winning teams selected to win the trip of a lifetime to the Johnson Space Center where they toured facilities and presented their app to a group that included the Chief Architect of NASA SCan, a NASA Flight Director, and others. The team also met two astronauts during their visit and is wrapping up the trip as this blog is being written.

The Night of the Arts was a delightful evening celebration! Artwork and literary compositions lined the halls to be enjoyed by guests, who were also led in worship by the high school praise team and entertained by elementary students singing songs in the gym. We are grateful for our teachers cultivating a love for the arts in our student body.

When senior Jenna Barnett committed to run cross country and track next year at Glenville State, the room was filled with family members, coaches, friends, and mentors who witnessed the signing. It was a great reminder that each of our students needs many people to sow into them, advocate for them, challenge them, and love them.

From artists and performers to scientists and athletes, we are grateful for a school community that supports and encourages our students to do their best while pointing them to Christ. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end!
