Chemistry and Coding

The varsity fall sports postseason is underway and our Warriors are showing the power of team chemistry.

Last Thursday, our soccer team played an amazing game against a formidable Wheeling Central team. Our Warriors played their hearts out and came out on top, winning the sectional championship title! They play in the Regional Final tonight at 7 PM versus East Fairmont at East-West Stadium in Fairmont. The team would love for a great crowd cheering them on in Fairmont!

Also last Thursday, our girls and boys cross country teams placed third at the regional meet and qualified for the State Cross Country meet! Of our runners, Ethan Tomlinson and Mason Melohn earned First Team All-Region honors, and Bri Blake, Harper Jacquez, Taylor Stephens, Miles Steptoe, and Chase Livengood earned Second Team All-Region. This is the third year in a row that the girls team has advanced to states. It is the second year in a row that the boys have advanced, and the third time in the last four years.

Our volleyball team showed their grit and perseverance by bouncing back from a close sectional tournament loss to Madonna on Monday night to score two decisive wins against Clay-Battelle and Notre Dame last night, securing a spot in the regional tournament. They play tonight at Clay-Battelle with a rematch against Madonna at 6 PM. With a win, they will play in the sectional final. It would mean a lot to the Lady Warriors if our fans would pack the stands to support them tonight!

While sports have been a big focus, our students have been shining in the classroom and hallways too. It was especially fun to watch Mrs. Breakey’s pride and her students’ enthusiasm and excitement when they shared projects from coding class this week! We also had the pleasure of recognizing several students at the October Finale for displaying godly character traits based on Heroes of the Bible.

The week isn’t over yet. We’ll send our cross country team off to the State Meet with a Warrior Gauntlet tomorrow and end the week with the Hoop-A-Thon. Look for those events in the next blog!
