Happy Birthday, Jesus!
Posted on December 14, 2023
Today, second-grade students threw a birthday party for Jesus in the elementary chapel service, complete with party hats, cupcakes, and guests. One thing was missing: a birthday gift for Jesus. What could they give our Creator and the King of Kings?
“You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”Psalm 51:16-17 NIV
The students shared these verses to remind us that the only gift Jesus desires is our hearts. His birthday is a cause for celebration like no other! He came to bring us abundant life. (John 10:10)
It is our prayer as we close out the year that you have given Jesus your heart, as broken as it is, so that He may breathe eternal life into it. Merry Christmas!
