Positive Influence

“I still have great connections with my friends and teachers from Trinity, which is just so wonderful. Trinity helped me discover my passions and grow in my relationship with the Lord. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today if it weren’t for the people I knew and the experiences I had in high school at Trinity Christian.” ~ Taylor Stephens, TCS Class of 2025

In recent conversations, other alumni have echoed Taylor’s sentiments about Trinity and the influence it’s had on her life. It’s always a joy to hear words like these from our graduates after they’ve moved on from Trinity.

Our elementary and cheer programs serve as recent reminders of how our Trinity community continues that positive influence. Admissions Director Ben Guillow and his wife, Rebecca, who are also Trinity parents, decided to take on the task of restarting the elementary basketball and cheer program. With the aid of many helpers and supporters, the program was reborn, and this past Friday, the elementary basketball and cheer teams played and performed on the home court, the same night as our varsity boys basketball team.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement. Cheered on by their enthusiastic cheer squad, our little Warriors played with intensity and joy, never giving up despite being outscored. It really didn’t matter because they won the hearts of the crowd, including the varsity basketball team, cheerleaders, and the Warrior student section, who proudly supported them. The memorable evening ended with our varsity boys outscoring Notre Dame in an intense contest. With the win, the Warriors improved their record to 12-1. It was an incredible night on the hill!

It’s doubtful the little Warriors will remember the scores from that evening, but they won’t soon forget the high-fives, cheers, and words of encouragement they received from the crowd, especially the older students. Trinity’s teachers, coaches, student mentors, and friends can leave an indelible mark, ultimately pointing others to Christ and His love.

As alumnus Ben Lohmann ’24 shared when reflecting on his time at Trinity, “So many people were so Christlike in the ways that they would go about their days in the school, how they treated us, and how we want to treat others. You know their mission was to spread the Word of God.”
