Spring Fever

We had a delightful taste of spring, only to be followed by a snow day early in the week, and now the whole school seems to have a bad case of Spring Fever! The setback hasn’t changed our anticipation for spring’s arrival; it only intensified it.

What is it about the sight of fresh buds on bare branches and tender shoots breaking through hardened ground that lightens our hearts and buoys our spirits? These welcome signs of life after the barrenness of winter offer a fitting metaphor for the hope we have in our resurrected Savior, Jesus.

Luke 24:13-35 recounts the story of two disciples walking with the risen Christ along the road to Emmaus, though they had not yet recognized Him. They were “downcast” as they focused on His death and burial; their hopes that He was the promised Messiah were buried with Him. When their eyes were opened to who He was and the fact that He was indeed alive, their hope was renewed and gave birth to joy!

Just as surely as spring will come, we can rejoice because Christ is risen, and He will come again. And we are thankful that we can honor Him and talk about Him freely in our classrooms and hallways as we endeavor to Educate for Life.
