The Best Way to Honor

This past Monday, we honored local veterans at our annual Veterans Day Program. The event was filled with spirited patriotic music alongside moving tributes to honor local veterans for the sacrifices they’ve made for our freedoms. Our elementary students sang several songs with great enthusiasm while our band played the Armed Forces Medley. One of the more touching moments of the program was when members of each military branch proudly stood to be honored during their respective songs.

Tyler Etris, a TCS parent, alumnus, and board member, delivered a speech to honor the veterans and challenge those in attendance. Below is an excerpt from his message.

“On this Veterans Day I have asked myself, what is the best way to honor our
veterans. I kept concluding that the obvious way to honor them is to take advantage
of the liberties we have in this very room to put on the armor of God and ‘press
toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus,’ as Paul
writes to the Philippians.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I using the liberties they fought to protect to point
people towards Jesus?”

Thank you, veterans, for fighting for our liberty. May we faithfully honor your sacrifices by not taking our freedom to freely worship Jesus, our Savior, for granted.

In addition to our Veterans Day Program, a variety of other wonderful activities filled our week, including the Hoop-A-Thon and Mentor Day. We hope you can feel our collective joy through this video.
