Welcome to Trinity Christian School!
Who We Are
We provide a caring, Christ-centered environment where each student is nurtured to excel academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. Trinity Christian School educates students from infancy through grade twelve. We are a college preparatory, independent, interdenominational institution serving Morgantown and the tri-state area.
By integrating the principles of God’s Word throughout the curriculum and extra-curricular activities, students are equipped to make a difference in the world in which they live, work, and play.
Philosophy
Our philosophy of child development rests upon two ancient principles of education. First, our school functions in loco parentis – in the place of the parent – but this does not mean that we supplant parental authority; rather, through a shared but delegated responsibility, we “partner with parents” to support them in their divinely ordained mandate to “train up a child in the way he should go.”1 Secondly, our school recognizes that students are created imago Dei – in the image of God – and thus we endeavor to train them in spirit, mind, and body. Spiritual education derives from our study of God’s word and our communal expression of its precepts through compassionate, respectful, and ethical relationships among our constituency and towards the community at large. Mental education derives from our diligent study of the vast spectrum of human knowledge as our teachers themselves – life-long learners – model intellectual passion to their students and endeavor to cultivate this passion in them. Bodily education revolves around our fine arts and athletic programs. Our fine arts program directs students to develop their creative capacities in reflection of our great Creator. Our athletic program emphasizes fitness, health, physical discipline, teamwork, humility in triumph, and dignity in defeat.
Excellence is our watchword, meaning that we seek to “do all things heartily unto the LORD.”2 If “the first and greatest commandment”3 is to “love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and will all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind,”4 then our first duty as a Christian is to fulfill this commandment in every area: in the classroom, on the playing field, in performances, in our relationships with one another, and, above all, in our relationship to God.
“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”5
