A High School Perspective: Operation Christmas Child

by Audrey Kurcaba, Eleventh Grade

Operation Christmas Child, a volunteer missions project, has celebrated its 200 millionth shoebox sent, and they couldn’t have done it without Trinity Christian. After filling tables in the chapel with all sorts of items for the boxes, each upperclassman paired up with an elementary student to pack a shoebox. Each pair of kids carefully picked out items that ranged from a “wow gift” to hygiene products, crayons, toys, and school items. Upperclassmen got a chance to mentor younger children, as the elementary students were excited to help needy kids in a different country. It was enjoyable to see the younger kids be so thrilled to assist, as they genuinely loved putting their own interests and careful thoughts into each box. We high schoolers can’t wait to do another activity mentoring other students in the future.
