Heart of the matter

At Trinity, we talk a lot about the heart: having a heart for God, a heart for our students, a heart for the school.
Teachers, coaches, students, and players do their work with such heart and it shows. It shows in the way teams win and lose. It shows in the myriad of classes and activities for a school our size. We are blessed to have a community who come together to approach the tasks with diligence and heart.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…” Colossians 3:23 NIV
Our school community came together to celebrate the opening game for the middle school football program. The kids played so hard and, despite losing the game, won the hearts of the fans for their determination, grit, and sportsmanship.
All our athletes are doing us proud! Just this past week, high school cross country runner Bella Goff placed 15th in the small school division of the Interstate Classic. The golf team went 4-0 at the Pines with Briston Bennett and Mark Spruill earning co-medalist honors. The soccer team won a game against Union Local. The high school volleyball team started their season strong with a great showing at the Doddridge tournament, beating Wirt, Berkeley Springs, Liberty, and Doddridge, before losing to Williamstown in the semi-finals. They also defeated Tygarts Valley and Notre Dame. In middle school cross country, the boys’ team placed second and the girls’ team took third at the WV State Middle School Invitational. Even when our teams experienced losses, their coaches have commended them for playing hard and displaying a great attitude.
It’s hard to find adequate words to describe our teachers. Creative and caring, they incorporate fun and wonder in their approach to their students and learning!
We are so thankful to our parents, grandparents, and friends of the school! Whether sharing in the classroom, in the chapel, or in giving, they pour their time, talents, and treasure into our kids and community. We couldn’t do it without them!
