In the Spotlight
Posted on November 14, 2024
A literal and figurative spotlight has been shining on many of our students this past week, but firstly, we want to focus on the local veterans who were our guests at last Friday’s Veterans Day Program.
While we can never adequately thank them for their service to our country, our school community comes together annually to show veterans honor, respect, and gratitude at this special event.
Dressed in red, white, and blue, our students started things off by singing patriotic songs. Afterward, the band did a great job playing the anthems of each branch of the military. It was especially moving to see the veterans stand to be recognized when the band played their specific song. The program ended with Pastor James Sabin sharing a brief but meaningful message. Thank you to all the veterans who attended, and to our students and staff for preparing a lovely program.
As mentioned earlier, some of our students are in the figurative spotlight due to their achievements. Jakub Galik and Parker Hopkins were named 1st Team OVAC All-Conference. Mason Rodeheaver and Austin Porta received 2nd Team honors. Mason Rodeheaver, Parker Hopkins, Jakub Galik, and Nathan Adams made 1st Team All-Region and Austin Porta made 2nd Team. Our All-State honorees include Parker Hopkins – 1st Team, Mason Rodeheaver – 2nd Team, and Jakub Galik and Nathan Adams – Honorable Mention. Coach Dan Lohmann was named Regional Coach of the Year and is a finalist for the State Coach of the Year. Additionally, Parker Hopkins is a finalist for the State Goalkeeper of the Year. The winners will be announced at the All-State banquet in a couple of weeks. Congratulations to all!
Our drama department will be in the spotlight tomorrow when the members perform Her Senior Year at West Virginia Wesleyan for the West Virginia Theatre Association’s Winter Festival competition. Our students and teacher/director Mr. Colton Daft are excited about this opportunity and look forward to performing the play in-house soon. Look for an announcement in the coming days.
Enjoy this glance back at the week! Note: All music in this video was performed by TCS students under the direction of Mr. Josh Salisbury.
