Making memories
Posted on October 27, 2022
Against a backdrop of the West Virginia hills covered in trees adorned with vibrant fall leaves, our students and families made all kinds of memories this week.
Last Saturday, perfect weather set the tone for the Annual Fall Festival. Families gathered inside for all sorts of fun including a cakewalk, face painting, carnival games, inflatables, and more. Outdoors, the guests played yard games, enjoyed a petting zoo, rode a barrel train or hay wagon, or took a dance lesson. A highlight for all was the live praise music performed by the trio of high schoolers Noah Toler, Taylor Stephens, and Lydia Knight.
To cap off the evening in dramatic fashion, our soccer team won its second sectional championship, and the first over Wheeling Central, in a double-overtime game that was decided in a penalty kick shootout. The shootout went 7 rounds, and the Warriors won 5-4 with goalie Ben Lohmann scoring the winning penalty kick. It was a thrilling finish to the game that propelled the team into tonight’s regional final at 7 p.m. against Fairmont Senior. If the Warriors win tonight, they move on to the state tournament.
This Saturday, our high school girls cross country team will make history as the program’s first girls team to compete at the State Cross Country Championship! They will be joined by a couple of boys who qualified individually. Adding to the excitement, the middle school girls volleyball team won the Mason-Dixon Conference title and the high school volleyball team celebrated senior night. It’s been quite a week!
Although the moments themselves pass quickly, the memories made this past week will linger for months, years, and even decades. We are thankful we have made these memories with our Warrior family.
