Students impress at Science Fair

Trinity Christian School students from grades 7 and 9 participated in the North Central West Virginia Math, Science, Energy, and Engineering Fair on Saturday, March 6, 2015. The students, their projects and awards are listed below.

Grade 7 – Junior Division

Regan Baker − Biological Science Division – 2nd Place

Samuel Emery − Environmental Science Division – 1st Place

Julia Gillum − Biological Science Division – Participation Certificate

Isaac Goff − Engineering and Computer Science – Participation Certificate

Tara Hammack − Biological Sciences– Participation Certificate

Gabriella Johnson − Biological Science Division – tied for 3rd Place

Turner Lawrence − Physics and Mathematical Sciences – 2nd Place

Brooke Phares − Environmental Science Division – 2nd Place

Joshua Rosen − Engineering and Computer Science – 1st Place

Sarah Seitz − Biological Sciences – 1st Place

Saige Zervos − Biological Science Division – tied for 3rd Place

Grade 9 – Senior Division

Emma Barber − Biological Science Division – 2nd Place

Riley Davenport − Physics and Mathematical Sciences – 1st Place

Ellena Gemmen − Engineering and Computer Science – 1st Place

Michael Gharib − Biological Sciences Division – 1st Place

Keira Hill − Chemistry Division – 2nd Place

Tristen Nine − Physics and Mathematical Sciences – 2nd Place

Brianna Wightman − Environmental Sciences Division – 3rd Place

Several students received special recognition for their entries. Sarah Seitz and Samuel Emery were selected for the Broadcom Masters Science Competition. This is a National competition – with the final winners winning up to $25,000.

The work of Jacob Martin and Brianna Wightman will be entered into the Water Environmental Federation’s Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition. The national winner for this award will receive a $10,000 scholarship and a trip to Stockholm, Sweden for the International competition.

All of the 9th grade participants will move on to the West Virginia State Fair competition later in March as they attempt to qualify for the International Competition.
