TCS Science Fair Extravaganza 2017
Posted on January 26, 2017
An exciting atmosphere filled the Trinity Christian School gymnasium on the morning of January 19, 2017. Dressed in professional attire, students stood anxiously by their displays for the Annual Science Fair Extravaganza. They chatted with each other as they waited to present their project to judges from the science, medical, and academic communities including WVU, NIOSH, and Allegheny-Erie Regional Chapter of Society of Toxicology. By the end of the day, prizes valued at over $1000 would be awarded to the winners.
The science fair continues to gain momentum since it was reorganized in the fall of 2014 by Dr. Lois Campbell. While the fair is mandatory for grades 5, 7, and 9, a few middle school students opted to compete voluntarily this year. The participants gain valuable experience in research and public speaking as well as the opportunity to meet professionals in scientific fields. Winners are selected to move on to the North Central West Virginia Math, Science, Energy and Engineering Fair and the ACSI Academic Fair.
