Time for kick off
Posted on August 9, 2018
It’s an exciting time as we prepare for school to begin next week! To use a football analogy, we’re finalizing game plans as we prepare to run out of the tunnel on “gameday” next Thursday. Just like the football world, we have lots of pregame activities planned. We’ll kick off the week with teacher professional development days followed by new student orientation. Then our entire community will gather together for the first Back to School Bash on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m.! It will be a great time of food, fellowship, and fun!
Just like in football, you need a talented team if you’re going to win when it comes to educating students. In the last blog, you met some of our new teachers and staff. We’re excited to introduce our latest members who will complete the awesome team that will lead our school this year. A few of them are familiar faces who are returning to Trinity in a new role.
Angela Beard joins us as a custodian. She is a Morgantown native and received her WV Real Estate license in June 2014. Angela earned her Board of Governors Associates in Applied Science Degree and a certificate in Business Management in December 2015 from Eastern WV Community and Technical College. She has been the owner of a commercial cleaning business for over ten years. Angela has also been the owner and property manager of a real estate business for over four years.
Michael Hamm is happy to be returning to TCS! Michael has a Bachelor’s in Music Education from WVU (2013) and a Master of Music degree from Mississippi College (2018). An active worship leader and musician, Michael is excited to help Trinity students both within and outside of the band find their voice as Christians and musicians.
We introduced Brittney Hostutler as our Drama Teacher in our last blog post. In addition to teaching drama, Brittney will be serving as our librarian.
Swifty Shaver is our bus driver. An experienced driver, Swifty joined the Trinity family at the end of last school year. He safely transported the summer campers on fun field trips all summer long!
Tiffany Swafford is a new addition to our kindergarten program. She has a B.S. in K-12 education from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. She has two sons, a sixth-grader and a fourth-grader, who are also joining our Trinity family.
After joining the Trinity team last year, Sarah Wolfe has transitioned from teaching fourth-grade to doing FOSS and enrichment this year. She’ll work Tuesdays and Thursdays with extended periods in the mornings for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to have one hour of science two days per week. Sarah earned a B.S. in Psychology from Allegheny College and an M.A. in Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Wolfe has eight years of experience as a teacher in elementary classrooms and four years of experience as adjunct faculty at Waynesburg University, teaching Beginning Algebra.
To become better acquainted, the new teachers/staff and their mentors enjoyed lunch together during new staff orientation.
Not only are we blessed with wonderful teachers, God continues to provide new equipment for our classrooms. We are excited to share that Novelis Fairmont has provided funding for 10 Chromebooks to be used by elementary students. Thank you, Novelis!
In addition, as a part of the Promethean Ambassador Program, Dr. Campbell has been asked to test-drive this littleBits Droid Inventor Kit with her students for the 2018-19 academic year!
As we close out summer, it’s fun to share some photos from the Trinity Basketball Summer Camp and our regular Summer Camp. Both camps were very successful in reaching into our community with some attendees now joining our Trinity family! Thanks to our staff, parents, coaches, and volunteers for all your hard work this summer! This slideshow also includes some shots of our fall sports teams. We’ll be sharing more of them in the coming weeks.
Our newly formed middle school football team started their first practice of the season with school chaplain Mr. Roy Schneider leading the team in prayer to dedicate the program to God for His glory. As we start the 2018-19 school year, will you join us in praying for our school, too? We seek to glorify God through honoring Christ, inspiring excellence, and educating for life.
