Wrapping Things Up
Posted on May 27, 2021
May has been jam-packed as we wrap up the 2020-2021 school year! After two guest blog posts, we are back sharing slices of life at Trinity in the past few weeks.
First graders held “Teacher of the Day in May”. Each student selected a topic to present to the class. Students learned about a variety of topics including volcanos, terrariums, snowboarding, insects, and hiking.
We combined Mentor Monday and community service in a special outreach to support the Bartlett House’s Welcome Home Project which is designed to help Bartlett House residents who are transitioning into a home of their own. The elementary classes and their mentor “Buddies” made cards for the residents and collected a variety of household items in a friendly competition. The students collected 784 items for the “Welcome Home Project” with second grade and their ninth-grade buddies winning a popsicle party!
Our science students’ hard work to prepare for the Science Fair paid off. They did a great job! Thanks to Dr. Campbell for coordinating the fair and the volunteers who served as judges.
The third-grade students had lots of potential tourists parade through their classroom for their State Fair! Each student chose a U.S. state, completed research, and put together a detailed project board to represent important and interesting state facts. They also wrote a persuasive speech as the official “Tourism Director” of their great state to try to persuade potential tourists to visit!
Fourth-graders did a similar project but, instead of states, they researched countries. They presented what they learned to other elementary students who visited their classroom.
It was such a blessing to celebrate the promotions of the Kindergarten, fifth-grade, and eighth-grade classes! These students are all at important junctures in their lives and they are in our prayers as they move to the next stage of growth.
Earlier in the month, fourth-grade studied influential Americans then presented what they learned by making the person they researched come to life in a “Wax Museum”.
Our seniors had their last chapel of high school. We are especially thankful for those who have served on the Praise Team and as A/V techs during high school.
