Jars of clay

The other day in preschool, a student blurted out the question, “Is Christmas God’s birthday?” His face was earnest, waiting for the answer. Miss Kendra, his teacher, gently responded, “Christmas is Jesus’s birthday.” Then she asked the whole group of toddlers, “And who is Jesus?” The little ones answered loudly, “God’s son!”
This. This is why we do what we do. As we teach math and science, reading and writing, Phys Ed and music, we can’t help but point students to the One who created everything!
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” ~ 2 Corinthians 4:7 ESV
We are just vessels made of clay—ordinary and broken. But with His love and power within us, we can point our students to Christ and encourage them to grow into all that He has for them.
