Let your light shine

Did you ever see a sunrise so magnificent that it stopped you dead in your tracks? One morning this week, we had the above view from our campus. Incredible beauty filled the sky.

Just like the sun, we are designed to reflect our Creator and shine.

When our students wrestle with concepts in a science lab, they shine. When they stretch their abilities on the playing field or are kind to one another, they shine. When they create a beautiful work of art or serve without expecting recognition, they shine! When they abandon themselves to worship during a chapel service, they shine!

It is such a privilege to help them grow and watch them SHINE for the glory of God! Students were rewarded with a trip to Coal Country Mini Golf as part of “Torchbearers”, a character-building program for the middle school. img_4644img_4655Fourth-grade students are building and creating WeDo LEGO robots using iPads in science class under the guidance of TCS teacher Dr. Lois Campbell. Dr. Campbell was recently trained and certified for the program through the Education Resource Center at NASA in Fairmont, WV.img_4677img_4683The concentration was evident in the faces of the AP Chemistry students as they worked intensely on an acid-base titration lab. Our parent volunteers shine, too! Thank you to all those who participate through the Parent Service Organization, do read aloud, help with athletics, serve on committees – the list is endless! We appreciate you so much!img_3873img_3881Students have opportunities to shine every day through classroom activities. Recently the students in first-grade used pumpkins to learn about circumference, weight, and height. Afterward, their teacher carved the pumpkins with symbols of their faith to symbolize letting their light shine.
