Piper McLaughlin Named WV Symphonic Fellow
Posted on May 1, 2017
Trinity senior Piper McLaughlin was selected to be a 2017 West Virginia Student Symphonic Fellow in the Amy and Andrew Vaughan Fellowship Program. As a Vaughan fellow, Piper will sit in on West Virginia Symphony Orchestra rehearsals, research pieces of music performed by the orchestra, and attend their performances. To get to the finalist stage, Piper had to write an essay and go through an application process. Once a finalist, she auditioned and was interviewed by a panel of judges. Only two students are chosen for the program each year.
Piper, a flute player, is excited about the opportunity to be working alongside professional musicians. “It’s good to see the work and commitment that goes on,” she said. Piper plans to attend WVU in the fall as Music Education major.
