Praise and provision

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:19
If you ever wondered what happens when school is out of session, we can assure you that there is no downtime at Trinity! The WELL is in session, Summer Camp is in full swing, prospective families are visiting, and the 3-week athletic practice period is underway. It’s always great to see our students participating in summer activities at the school as we prepare for the upcoming academic year.
Speaking of getting ready for next year, we are excited to introduce new team members to our Trinity family. These administrators and staff are already working to ensure we get off to a good start when classes begin in August. We thank God for His provision in bringing qualified personnel to come alongside the school to help us to fulfill our Christ-centered mission.
We’ll start with our new Secondary Principal, Mr. Gary Cook. Gary is a retired public school administrator with over 32 years of experience. He has served students in various roles including Assistant Superintendent, Director of Secondary Ed., Technology Director, secondary principal, teacher, and coach. Gary was named State Principal of the Year for West Virginia in 2010-2011. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia State University and his master’s degree and Ed.S. from Marshall University. Prior to their recent move to Morgantown, Gary and his wife Cheryl attended Bible Center Church in Charleston, West Virginia.
Gary recently shared his thoughts on Christian education.
“My philosophy on Christian education is we must guide our children towards an understanding that God is at the center of every pursuit of knowledge. We must provide our students with the necessary resources to be successful Christian leaders in all areas of growth: Spiritual, academic, social, and physical. If we can accomplish these things each school year, then the future for Trinity Christian School will continue to flourish.”
Mrs. Amanda Darby has been with the school since 2017. After previously serving as a classroom teacher and the FOSS (Full Option Science System) teacher, Amanda has transitioned to the role of Elementary Principal. Amanda received her master’s degree in teaching from West Virginia University and has a passion for integrating all subject matter and teaching from a Biblical Worldview.
When asked about her new position, Amanda said the following.
“I’m so excited to begin this new journey partnering with families and teachers to help provide high-quality biblically integrated academics that allow our Trinity students to succeed inside and outside the classroom while glorifying God along the way. Because when it comes down to it, math is important, but Jesus is everything.”
We are so excited to have Gary and Amanda leading the secondary and elementary schools respectively!
Our new Director of Athletics and Student Success, Mr. Codey Horton also started at the beginning of the month, just in time for the three-week athletic practice period. Codey graduated from West Virginia University in 2016 with a B.S. in Physical Education/Teaching Education and a minor in Athletic Coaching. Before moving back to West Virginia, Codey was working and living in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Codey has played and coached a variety of sports and was on the coaching staff for Webster County High School in 2019 when the basketball team went 28-0 and won the state championship. Prior to coming to Trinity, he taught physical education and health for three years and just finished his second year of being an Athletic Director.
Codey’s enthusiasm is evident in his remarks about joining the administration.
“It’s great to be back in West Virginia and I love the atmosphere here at Trinity. Everyone is so wonderful and I am looking forward to this school year. The coaches that I have met or contacted since moving here seem to be on the same page with our goals for the program and our leadership with sharing the gospel. God is definitely on the move here at Trinity and I am glad to be a part of it. Go Warriors!”
If you have stopped in the office this summer, you may have met Mr. Tyler Quinn, our new Director of Admissions and Employee Services. Tyler was born and raised in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont State University in 2017. He and his wife are happy to be back in West Virginia after living in the Pittsburgh area for a couple of years. In his spare time, Tyler loves to golf, play board games and video games, hike, and be outside.
Tyler shared a little about himself and his feelings about being at Trinity.
“We really have been welcomed back with open arms by friends, family, and Trinity. I consider myself an extrovert; I love being around people and socializing. Trinity has been so wonderful to me since I started! I’m so excited to be here and to grow as a part of the Trinity Family together. If you ever want to chat, call or stop by the office. I look forward to getting to know all of you.”
If you visit the school this summer, please take a minute to introduce yourself and welcome Gary, Amanda, Codey, and Tyler! Join us in praying for them and thanking God for bringing them to Trinity!
