Reasons to cheer
Posted on September 28, 2017
It’s Homecoming Week! In keeping with the school spirit theme, is our Top Five List (in random order) of reasons to cheer for Trinity this week!
- Old and New Traditions – Students, teachers, and staff showed their enthusiasm for Spirit Week! We also added two new traditions for Homecoming 2017. As of this year, seniors are allowed to paint their parking spaces and, for the first time, we have a Homecoming Court! The following students were named to the 2017 Homecoming Court: Junior escort and attendant Caleb Rice and Reagan Sharp; senior escorts and attendants Cameron Kellar, Brianna Wightman, Kellen Alderman, Molly Rubenstein, Joseph Zini, Emily Saurborn, Frankie Kerekes, and Yohanna Berhanu; sophomore escort Joshua Rosen; freshman attendant Katie White; and sophomore attendant Gabriella Johnson. (L to R as pictured in the slideshow. Missing from picture: freshman escort Mason Steptoe.)
- State-bound Golf team – Our golf team is headed to the State Tournament! They qualified by finishing second to Tucker County by one stroke in the regional championship. Mark Spruill shot an 84 to lead the Warriors who will head to Wheeling and the Oglebay course next week for the two-day event. Congratulations to Coach Baldy and the team for this tremendous accomplishment!
- Creative Classrooms – Kudos to our teachers for the creative ways they instruct our students! As part of their study of a butterfly’s life cycle, the 4-year olds burst forth from toilet paper “cocoons” spun ’round them by their sixth-grade mentors. Proving that food is a great way to teach all sorts of concepts, the first-grade class made applesauce, the second-graders made manna, and kindergarten made ice cream in a ball. Secondary Spanish students practiced their language skills at lunchtime at their Spanish table. As a part of our STEM Emphasis this year, the 3 and 4-year-olds were transformed into space explorers with a Kindernauts kit.
- Fall Y’all – We’re celebrating autumn with our Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch! Our Pumpkin Patch opens tomorrow, September 29 from 2:30-4 p.m. The second annual Fall Festival will be held at Trinity on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Learn more about the Fall Festival here. If you would like to be a vendor at the event, click here.
- God’s Unending Goodness! – We are constantly amazed at His faithfulness to our school! This week alone, we were gifted with a bus from anonymous donors! (Yes, a BUS!) We were blessed when Tyler Etris, a 2006 Trinity grad, came back to minister at the secondary chapel. In addition, the Pillar Project that we told you about in a previous post is one step closer to completion. The lettering for the pillars was installed today. Landscaping for the project will take place in the spring of 2018. Thank you to all who contribute their time, their talents, and their resources to our school!
